Maths Intent
At West Hoathly School, we are committed to fostering an enthusiasm for maths with the aim ensuring all children have a love of number and calculations. We aim to teach a mathematics curriculum that is accessible and challenging to all, providing children with the skills needed to apply their knowledge to everyday life. Using manipulatives, pictures and ultimately abstract concepts, children develop their fluency and understanding in number, making connections with previous learning to solve problems whilst using mathematical language to provide reasoning for their answers.
