Safeguarding & Child Protection
The Leaders and Governors of West Hoathly Church of England Primary School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, visitors and volunteers to share this commitment. This extends to occasional users of the school and those providing paid services such as clubs.
In accordance with the legislation set out in the document "Keeping Children Safe in Education" (DFE 2023) the school has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. The DSL has overall responsibility for safeguarding. The school also has a deputy DSL who works with the DSL to monitor safeguarding and child protection systems and provision and take responsibility in the absence of the DSL.
The school operates in accordance with the relevant nation legislation and local authority (West Sussex County Council) procedures and guidelines, in consultation with the designated officwers of the WSCC and relevant support services. The school will always work with the relevant authorities to ensure that all pupils are kept safe.
Additional information about child protection and safeguarding may be found on the "Key Policies" page on the school website. Our designated staff will also be willing to answer any questions or concerns that you may have about the safety and wellbeing of a child.
