COMPUTING SYLLABUS
I have set up separate pages for EYFS, KS1 and KS2. The KS1 and KS2 pages have also been split into Autumn, Spring and Summer terms, due to the number of topics covered. The pages for KS1 and KS2 have all been published, although I intend to expand on certain topics. Touch Typing also has its own page now. Should you have any questions regarding computing in school, or are unable to access one of the websites mentioned, you can contact me at computing@westhoathlyschool.co.uk. Please Note: The products mentioned on these pages are there for your reference, and not because we endorse them, or have any expectation of you purchasing them. My aim is simply to be informative, and to provide context with regard to the children's learning. Shirley Hickey |

KEY STAGES 1 AND 2 (KS1 & KS2)
Our KS1 and KS2 computing syllabus consists of 12 strands, each lasting 3 to 4 weeks. The syllabus was devised using a concept called Spiral Learning. Spiral learning is a teaching method based on the premise that a student learns more about a subject each time the topic is reviewed or encountered, and in doing so, expands their knowledge, or improves their skill level. In addition to this, each subject informs the following topic, i.e. Word Processing informs Presentations, or Spreadsheets informs Flatfile Databases.
