CLASSES & ORGANISATION
West Hoathly is classed as a small school. Our published admission number (PAN) for new starters in the reception year is 20. This is the equivalent of 2/3 of a standard class of 30 children. At present we accomodate all year groups in four classes. There are seven year groups in the primary age range so we do have mixed year group classes (except Year 2) and is it often necessary to split year groups in order to accomodate the children whilst keeping class sizes reasonable (and within legal limits) as well as ensuring the best provision for each child.
Year group sizes also vary from year to year so the precise grouping and organisation, including which year groups are divided between classes will vary from year to year. However we seek to ensure that, where year groups are divided, that the children in those year groups access the same curriculum. This does not mean that they will do exactly the same things but the learning objectives will be covered in each class, albeit in different ways.
For the 2024-2025 academic year our classes will be organised as shown below:
In common with most primary schools in West Sussex, admission to West Hoathly CE School is co-ordinated by the West Sussex Council team based in Horsham.
