RSHE Intent

Our RSHE curriculum is designed with a clear aim: to equip children with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to navigate the complexities of life in the 21st Century effectively.

Our curriculum encompasses critical areas that empower children to make informed choices, not only in the present but also as they navigate their future paths. It addresses key aspects concerning health, safety, wellbeing, relationships, and financial matters, all of which are integral to fostering confident individuals and active participants in society.

The curriculum aligns with the Relationships and Health Education statutory guidance issued by the Department for Education. Furthermore, our curriculum extends to cover broader Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE) learning, consistent with the requirements outlined in the National Curriculum (2014), which emphasizes the need for schools to provide comprehensive PSHE education. Additionally, it promotes the four fundamental British values that are reflective of modern British life: democracy, the rule of law, respect and tolerance, and individual liberty.

The Department for Education's statutory 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' (September 2024) guidance emphasizes the importance of teaching children about safeguarding, including online safety. Our curriculum aligns with this guidance, introducing and revisiting concepts related to personal boundaries, consent, and effective communication of boundaries with others. This preparation equips pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to address the challenges and responsibilities they may encounter in the future, promoting a safer and more informed society for all.
