Handwriting
We have had a few parents asking if they can help with their children's handwriting. We use 'pre- cursive' writing from the beginning and because this has 'in' and 'out' strokes to each letter it is helpful for children when they start joining up their writing in Key Stage Two.
If you would like to practice handwriting with your child it is most useful to use lined paper and for the child to sit comfortably at a table with the paper on a slight diagonal to the left (for right handers) or to the right (for left handers). The attached sheet should be helpful in seeing how each letter is formed. Starting practicing with individual letters can be progressed into joins of two letters or more (for older children). A little and often approach is useful, perhaps five minutes every day rather than a long session occasionally.
